How to Create a Website Tutorial

Ways to make money with a website

Don't believe that Google Adsense is the only advertising program online to help you make money. If you are just starting out, adsense may be your best choice until you start getting high traffic and high PageRank.

The best ways to make money on the internet is using a mixture of different programs; advertising and affiliate.

Advertising

If you are selling products on your website and use this method, people that click on the advertising links will be sent to another website and you may possibly lose a sale. On the flip side, if someone is not finding what they want on your site, you might as well earn a little money from them leaving.

If you want to use Google Adsense, other advertisers can be used at the same time. I realize that nobody likes to read the fine print, but it's a good idea before you sign up find out if that advertiser is a good match for your site contents and if using adsense, can you also use the advertiser you are reviewing (many will tell you in their FAQ's).

Do Not:

  • Create a website around high paying keywords.
  • Click on the links yourself
  • Ask visitors or friends to click on the ads
  • Splatter them all over the page
  • Use it as a "commercial break" in a short article
  • Use on empty pages
  • Place on pop-up windows

Do:

  • Use the same colors and style as your site
  • Place towards the top of the page
  • Choose the correct format for you site
  • Use a border line if placing near images

NetAudioAds - Pay-per-play is still in the beta testing as of March 1, 08. Once you sign up and place the code on your website, you could be paid for some ads played on your site. Your visitors do not have to click anything!

Yahoo Publisher Network - similar to Google Adsense. This is still in the beta testing but catching up with Google. You can sign up with it, but may want to wait until it goes live.

Google Adsense - most popular pay per click program. earn anywhere from $.01 to $5.00 or more per click.

Chitika - they show products from competitors. If you have been to a website or blog and you see double underlined keywords and a little box will pop up when you mouse over. This is just one of the methods they have for your blog or website to earn money.

Adbrite - If you have a lot of traffic to your site you can "sell" advertising space. You review each ad before it goes on your website and set the price. You are also able to place a banner or text ad on your site and get paid. It is based on CPM (cost per 1000 impressions).

Bidvertiser - pay per click program. This can be used on a blog or website.

Text Link Ads - You submit your site for approval. Once approved, insert their ad code then they sell the ad space and you receive 50% of what the ad was sold for. You can accept or deny before the ad will appear on your site.

Affiliate Programs

Many companies are starting to use affiliate marketing networks to help find more affiliates. So as not to have to much information on this page, see my information on affiliate marketing.
