Free FTP Tutorial
FTP (file transfer protocal) is the process you will use to upload (transfer) your files (web pages, images and
videos) from your computer to your web hosting account.
Before you purchase any web hosting plan, verify an FTP is available with the hosting account. GoDaddy is a one of the few web hosting companies that have been around for years, support
FTP uploads and have very affordable hosting plans.
Note: One of the features Xsitepro
has is the built-in publishing for easy uploading of your website to your hosting account.
Details needed to upload files using web design software
There are a few different ways to upload your files to your host account. If you use a program with the FTP
built in, you will need to put your information into the software's publishing details area.

This is what Xsitepro looks like to transfer the files to your host account but no matter what software you use,
you will need to know the FTP server (IP address of your website), your Username, password and where you want the
files to go. This information will be e-mailed to you when you create a hosting account.
NOTE: The user name and password may be different than your login information to get into your hosting
account. If you did not receive it or unclear about uploading, contact your web hosting customer service.
If you are using Blue voda software, you would click on the Tools tab and then the Connect button. A small box
will open and ask for your Username and Password, then press the Connect in the small popup box and it will connect
you so you can start uploading files.
If you have a new program and are not familuar with it look at the help tutorial for how to upload files to your
site. It may be filed under publishing details, file management or FTP.
Upload files through web hosting account
Once you login to your account, you many see drop down menus across the top of the page. Domains, Hosting &
Servers, Site Builders, etc..
Pull the menu down for Hosting and Servers, click on My Hosting Account. You will then have a screen that shows
your hosting accounts. Next to the domain you want to upload files to, click on Manage Account,
This will then bring your Hosting Control Center up. It may look similar to this.

The domain name, server IP Address, and DNS Name Servers information fields will have the information for your
hosting account.
Next on your web hosting control panel, click on Content.

Then click on the FTP Client. This will take you to the area you need to be in to upload your files.

You will then need to find the files you want to upload, click on them and then hit the >> button to
upload.
You can also download files from your site to your computer by using the << button.
If you have very large files to upload or don't want to have to go into your hosting account every time you want
to upload files to the internet. You can use free FTP software.
I recommend using FileZilla. It can be used with Windows or Mac Operating systems.
