I have found you can buy names cheaper at other registrars on the internet, but then noticed once my term was up they were going to charge $20.00 (and up) for renewal.

If you are buying a name because of a business you own or plan on building a huge website, you may want to look at buying your domain name in bulk.

Example: Google.com wanted to make sure no one was able to ride on their coat tails.

So they bulk registered, dot com, dot org, dot info, dot net, etc.

Private Registration

When registering your domain name, the registrar service offers you public or private registration.

A public registration means any individual, by using Whois lookup service, has the ability to check out who owns a domain name and can see your personal information, like: name, address, phone number and much more.

Depending on the nature of your site, you might consider paying the additional charge for private registration, as this restricts viewing your information to avoid spam messages.

Price of private registration is usually under $10.00 a year and many times it's worth the price.

Free Domain Registration And Web Hosting

There are many compaines that offer free domain name registration when you buy a hosting plan.

If you find a company that offers this, make sure that it is not a special promotion.

Many resellers offer this promo but when your renewal time comes around charges your plan plus an outrageous price for renewing your domain name.
