Blog vs Build a Website
Is blogging better than building a site? Many would like you to believe that you can make thousands online by
just starting your own blog instead of creating a site, but the sad truth is that only a few will
succeed making money online by blogging.
These differences may not seem like much, but in the grand scheme of things they can lead to your success or
failure.
Blogs (also called weblog)
- When you create a blog post, that post may shoot up to the top pages in the search engines, but once the
date of your post gets older and older it could start to fall in the rankings because newer content replaces
it.
- You can place your posts into catagories, but trying to create hierarchical navigation (home page, tier 1
and tier 2) can be difficult
- Blogging software (wordpress, blogger.com) does not give you a step by step process to follow.
- Continually update with content to keep traffic flow.
- Visitors ignore older posts
- Best used for the latest news or a thought of the day
- Does not meet the needs of most small business opportunities

Create a Website
- Able to structure a theme based site and arrange the content logically
- If you stop writing content on your site, traffic will continue to flow
- Excellent resources to help you create your website step-by-step
- Many more at home businesses are "created" using a website
These are just a few of the differences in using wordpress (or blogger) versus creating a website. Sure these
don't look like a lot of differences, but creating a blog first can be more work than what it is worth in the long
run. There are many more blogs that are given up on then websites.
